Rotala sp. 'Orange Juice'

€5.90
Rotala sp. 'Orange Juice' is a selection from Massimo Iannella a passionate plant enthusiast from Italy. The Orange Juice Rotala is like Rotala rotundifolia a time-tested popular stem plant wonderfully suitable for aquascaping. Its emerged form has roundish leaves, in the aquarium they grow to a longer, narrow form. Compared with other Rotala species it is relatively undemanding. This highly variable species is widely distributed in the Asian subtropics and tropics; standard variants available in trade are light green to reddish under water, depending on the light intensity. The leaves of the Orange Juice Rotala have stunning orange in the emerged and submerged form.

Rotala sp. 'Sunset'

€6.95
Rotala sp. 'Sunset' is also known as Ammannia sp. 'Sulawesi'. Rotala sp. 'Sunset' is a great midground plant that has great color and grows vertical. This plant is a difficult to grow for many in the hobby, but will also grow low tech. That doesn’t make a lot of sense but is actually how some plants are. They just do not like to be pushed in a high tech environment unless all their needs are met. Rotala sp. 'Sunset' is difficult to classify as hard or easy, if you have trouble with the plant then try it in different parts of the aquarium or in low tech as well as high tech.

Rotala macrandra 'Bangladesh'

€5.90
Rotala macrandra 'Bangladesh' is a relatively new aquatic plant that is moderately easier to grow compared to other macrandra variants. It stands out with its uniquely twisted leaves in shades of pinkish-red, adding a striking visual element to aquascapes. This plant thrives under strong lighting, CO₂ injection, and a steady supply of macro and micronutrients. Its moderate care requirements and vibrant appearance make it an excellent choice for aquarists looking to enhance their aquarium with a distinctive and colorful plant.

Price per: 5 stems (grown emersed).

Rotala sp. 'H' Ra'

€4.40
Rotala 'H’ra' has rather narrow leaves and an overhanging or creeping growth. It is probably a variation of Rotala rotundifolia and has much resemblance to Rotala sp. ‘Green’. High light levels, good fertilization and added CO2 will induce almost exclusively creeping growth and a warm, rich orange coloration. This makes it possible to create a dense, orange mid-ground cushion or even an unusual, orange foreground carpet.

Rotala mexicana 'Goias'

€8.90
Rotala mexicana 'Goiás' is one of the few red low-growing foreground plants. It is said to originate from the Brazilian state of Goiás. It was identified as a variant of the extremely variable Rotala mexicana. Even though it has been known to the aquarium hobby in Europe for a few years it is only rarely available and is thus a rarity. Newly placed shoots usually grow flat and creep on the substrate. When the population gets denser, more upright stems will develop. You can keep the population low by cutting it back, or let it grow to a wide bush especially nice in the middle ground of the aquarium. The combination of Rotala mexicana 'Goiás' with green stem plants results in a nice colour contrast. This rather small-leaved delicate plant is great for nano tanks.

Rotala macrandra 'Mini Butterfly'

€6.25
The deep red color of the leaves is what makes this plant a great mid-ground plant for any tank. Rotala Mini Butterfly is fairly new plant but it has quickly become a favorite because of its undemanding nature and spectacular color. The leaf structure of Rotala Mini Butterfly is quite small and dense. To bring out the nice red color, intense lighting and high iron concentration will be helpful. When trimmed into a bush, it looks like a fire ball, making your tank vivid instantly. Due to its small size, it is best used in nano tank or used as a foreground in a large tank. Rotala macrandra 'Mini Butterfly' is an unusually beautiful red color aquarium plant. It is most beautiful in groups, but do not plant individual shoots too close because this will prevent light reaching the lower leaves. To ensure good colour there must be sufficient micro-nutrients in the water.

Rotala sp. 'Wayanad'

€6.90
Rotala sp. 'Wayanad' is a delicate and compact stem plant native to the Wayanad district of Kerala, India. Among the smallest varieties of Rotala, it stands out with its fine, narrow leaves and naturally bushy growth, making it an ideal choice for nano aquariums. Often considered a miniature relative of Rotala sp. 'Green', this plant thrives with ease under the right conditions. Its submerged foliage displays a graceful, yellowish-green tone that can shift to deeper greens based on lighting intensity. When grown under strong light, it tends to spread horizontally, creating a soft, flowing effect in aquascapes. Thanks to its modest care requirements, comparable to Rotala rotundifolia, this variety responds well to medium to high lighting, CO₂ supplementation, and a consistent supply of nutrients. Its low-growing, airy structure makes it especially appealing as a midground or background accent, bringing subtle texture and dimension to planted tanks. Perfect for aquarists seeking a refined, natural look, Rotala sp. 'Wayanad' is both visually appealing and undemanding, making it a rare gem in the world of aquatic plants.

Rotala sp. 'Green'

€4.90
Plants that lend themselves particularly well to aquascaping are always in demand, and Rotala sp. 'Green' is no exception. Known in the hobby as both Rotala rotundifolia 'Green' and Rotala sp. 'Green', the taxonomic status of this plant is still uncertain. It may be either a form of R. rotundifolia or a separate species. Regardless of its nomenclature, however, this beautiful plant is swiftly gaining popularity due to its ease of cultivation and striking appearance. No data is available concerning its specific habitat, though the website of aquatic plant nursery Tropica states that its home continent is Asia. Like R. rotundifolia, Rotala sp. 'Green' is easy to grow. Though a wide range of light values will be tolerated, the higher the better is usually the case. This stem plant seems to be more predisposed to creeping across the substrate than R. rotundifolia. Though slightly warmer water will enhance its growth, this species demands no special treatment concerning pH or water hardness. CO2 is unnecessary, though speedier and healthier growth will result if it is used. Water column fertilization, especially the dosing of nitrate and iron, is essential or deficiencies will ensue; symptoms of deficiency include pale growth, reduced leaf size, and, eventually, the death of the stem (stunting).

Rotala sp. 'Ceylon'

€4.75
Rotala sp. 'Ceylon' is a fast growing, hardy, and easy to grow stem plant. It is light green in color, however, under strong light it can develope a pinkish color. When compare to Rotala Green, this plant has thiner leaves and stems and gives an overall "lighter" weight impression. In aquascaping, this is a great "neutral" plant to use in the background and accentuates and compliments well with focal or red plants. No matter how many times you trim it this plant will almost always grow back nice and full. Once planted, it will almost never need to be replanted, a good characteristic for use in a planted tank that is meant to be kept for long term.

Rotala sp. 'Colorata'

€4.40
Rotala sp. 'Colorata' is very probably a variant of the variable species Rotala rotundifolia. Often it is also labeled with the erroneous name "Rotala indica". In comparison with "standard" R. rotundifolia, this Rotala assumes an especially intensive light red to orange red colour, especially if it is under good light. The leaves are narrow lineal. The stems have an overhanging to horizontal growth habit and form dense bushes as they ramify readily, just like Rotala sp. "Green", which is always light green. Rotala sp. 'Colorata' is a good combination partner for it.

Price per: 5 stems (grown emersed).
